KEROUAC, Jack. Original untitled color drawing of the Crucifixion. Kerouac used colored crayons for this depiction of Christ on the cross with the three wise men standing in the foreground as an angel descends from heaven. In the background a man hangs from a gallows while the sun shines over distant hills. Boldly signed "Kerouac" in the lower left. Jack made this drawing for his niece, Maria Teresa Surprenant. Jack had a special fondness for Maria as she evoked in him his positive feelings for one of his favorite saints, St. Therese---he even remarked in a letter to Maria: "You are a saintly little girl, Maria Teresa." A fully-realized drawing by Kerouac rich in the Catholic imagery that was a recurring theme in his art and an important part of his cosmology. A piece easily the equal to some of the best works in Kerouac's Departed Angels: The Lost Paintings.

Handsomely double-matted and framed under glass (10.5" x 12" framed to 17.5" x 18.5"). Small tear to bottom edge, tiny chip to top edge, else fine. Kerouac's visual works are mostly institutionalized and their appearance on the market is rare. SKB-14027

| [BLOTTER ART: Albert Hofmann & Timothy Leary] Crests. LSD blotter art printing an illustration of blue crests with different insignias. Signed by Albert Hofmann, who discovered LSD, and Timothy Leary, it's foremost proponent. Additionally, this is a presentation copy inscribed by Leary to Hofmann: "To my main pal Al!!" According to Tom Lyttle who organized the signing of the sheets, and documented by the correspondence between the participants, disagreements arose that resulted in only 12 sheets being signed by both Hofmann and Timothy Leary. This presentation sheet from Leary to Hofmann is unique and the association could not be more spectacular given Leary's immense admiration for Hofmann and the effect that Hofmann's discovery of LSD had on Leary's life. Even without the inscription this blotter is considered the Holy Grail by collectors because of the small limitation and the combined signatures of the two most illustrious names in the Psychedelic Revolution. |

This sheet is the only known inscribed item of any kind to have surfaced linking Leary and Hofmann, making an already rare and desirable item even more so. The sheet measures 7" x 7" and is divided into 1000 perforated hits. Fine. Handsomely framed under glass.

[ROCK: Bob Dylan] Program for Dylan's 1966 UK tour. His first electric tour during which the newly-electric Dylan was considered a traitor by many. Stapled 8-page booklet featuring photos of Dylan, biographical texts, and essays about his "message," etc. Cover photo of Dylan next to the blurb "The 'Folk' Genius of His Generation." (This item was sold outside the concerts---not to be confused with a different program with white covers and a silhouette of Dylan that was offered to concert-goers inside.) Small stray mark to front cover, else about fine. Much scarcer than the white-cover program. SKB-12269

| [ART] HERMS, George. Original ''funk'' sculpture by George Herms. Two rusted pieces of metal fastened together with wire to create a hollow, square column. There are wood handles on either side stamped with Herm's trademark "LOVE" stamp with "LV" on one handle and "OE" on the other. Measures 5.5" x 7.5" overall. A very nice example of Herms' assemblage work that he pioneered in the late '50s early '60s along with his friends Wallace Berman and Bruce Conner. SKB-13932

[ROCK: U2] Promotional photo of U2 signed by each band member. Island Records b&w publicity shot of the band standing in the desert, nicely signed by the entire group with Bono adding the date "87" next to his signature. This photo originally came from U2's publicist Alvenia Bridges who had the group sign it for her (included is the 7-page memo from the 1987 press conference where the photo was signed). A nice item from a vital period in the band's development---and their impact has only increased during the intervening 20 years. |

One of 915 numbered copies signed by Witkin (of a total edition of 1210). [ART: Sam Francis] CORMAN, Cid. Yea. Emeryville: Lapis Press, 1989. 12mo. Hardbound in paper-covered boards. First edition. One of 25 copies signed by Sam Francis who has painted the front and back covers, this unsigned copy for Francis' personal use was sent to Corman as a gift prior to publication. This copy bears Corman's ownership signature dated 1988. Laid in is a letter from Corman's wife re-gifting this book years later to a friend of Cid's as a posthumous "gift for X'mas from Cid to you." Near fine with some light foxing to endpapers. A lovely example showing Francis' distinctive style. SKB-12604

KING, Stephen. The Shining. Garden City, NY: Doubleday, 1977. Hardbound in dust jacket. First edition, first issue (with publisher's code "R49" on p. 447). Inscribed by King just two years after publication: "For David, with all best, Stephen King 10/14/79." Basis for the 1980 Kubrick film starring Jack Nicholson. A spectacular, fresh copy of a book usually found in much lesser condition due to Doubleday's production values during this period. First issue copies in this conditon, inscribed, and without the remainder mark, are very scarce. SKB-11888
